Ichibantei @ Robertson Quay 18/06/2010 Japanese, Personal Favourites, River Valley THE PERFECT BOWL OF RAMEN. Honestly speaking, I’ve always disliked ramen because I think they taste like instant noodles and there’s this weird aftertaste. But after this bowl, I’m converted. Got proven wrong and I promise to never open my big damn mouth nor shoot nasty stares whenever I see someone ordering ramen, ever. I mean, there was absolutely nothing I could complain about. The soup stock was very flavouful, the noodles are springy (with no weird aftertaste), the char siu was thick and tender, the soy egg couldn’t have been better. I’ve had anything like that really, and now I know, it’s not that ramens taste bad, it’s just there ain’t enough good ramens around. The rest of the menu items look pricey and mediocre though – just go for the ramen. You gotta trust a “ramen-hater”.
